CrossFit Games 2021 have arrived and many CrossFit Games 2021 competitors are thrilled. There will be women's competitions in addition to the regular men's and women's competitions. The women's competition, Pegboard contests, Cutting system and Reebok equipment are all well-known. But, do you really know what to expect? Keep reading to find out! Don't forget the CrossFit news page to get the latest information about the competition.
The competition for women
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the first Games event by women. The women's side wanted to complete the podium.
The women's competition is filled with top-level athletes. The field includes nine athletes, including a 19-year-old powerhouse who won the competition in Australia last year. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler, a rising star who competed for the team division in 2018, finished third in America and fifteenth overall in 2020. In addition to these athletes, the Women's competition will also feature a newcomer to the sport - Icelandan competitor Sara Sigmundsdottir, who won the first place medal in the World Crossfit Games earlier this year.
Pegboard contest
The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. With 30 wins, Toomey-Orr holds the record for the most Games events won. Sager won Event 11 for the men and took home his third Games victory. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

CrossFit Games athletes train by focusing on ten core physical skills: strength, flexibility and speed. Pegboard tests the grip strength and coordination of competitors. The competitors compete by holding two wooden stakes between their fingers. The Pegboard was a fierce competition that left the athletes feeling proud of their accomplishments.
System of cutting
The CrossFit Games will once again employ a cutting system for the individual competition. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. There are 15 events in the competition, so it is possible that 30 athletes will be cut after the eighth or seventh event. The question is: How will CrossFit adjust points after cuts? It's probable that the scoring table used for the 2019 games will remain nearly the same as the one used in 2021.
This year's CrossFit Games team includes 236 competitors, making it the largest ever. The first six events result in major cuts. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. The top 30 finishers compete in a sprint pairt to determine who is the top ten. The top 20 athletes then compete in six more events. Castro's system was criticised by veteran Games participants, who felt that the cuts were too significant.
Reebok equipment
Reebok recently announced new CrossFit Games equipment, including clothing and shoes. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar, which promotes durability, breathability, and strength, is the shoe's upper. The shoe's responsiveness is enhanced by the RopePro tech and a firm midsole.

Reebok's contract with CrossFit will end at the end of 2020, and the Games will be without a title sponsor. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. Reebok won't be funding the Games' prize fund, but will continue making all athletic apparel and equipment worn athletes by, including the Reebok gear. The company will no longer call itself the "Reebok CrossFit Game", as it currently does.
